As we start the new year, we, at Beyond Beautiful, take the time to reflect back on the trends of 2015. Near and dear to many women, it comes as no surprise that breast enhancement continues to be our most popular surgical undertaking. As we look to the year ahead, we explore what may prove popular in 2016.

Breast Augmentation

Year after year, breast augmentation reigns as the number one surgical cosmetic procedure performed by plastic surgeons. Ever popular, women seek out augmentation in hopes of a fuller, more voluminous bust. However, 2015 saw the emergence of a new trend: women opting for smaller implants. Instead of wanting to dramatically increase their bust line, women want a more natural appearing bosom and are taking a more subtle approach—often wanting to increase their breasts by only one or two cup sizes.

Breast Reduction

Burdened with excessively large breasts, women are increasingly embracing a surgical solution. Breast reduction surgery is becoming more commonplace for women seeking to reduce their breast size. Last summer, TV starlet Ariel Winter opened up about her decision to undergo breast reduction. Like many women, Ariel struggled with the physical and emotional pain of large breasts. Tired of the unending neck and back pain, many women also find themselves defeated by the unwanted attention. About her decision, Ariel says “It’s something that I did to better my life and better my health”.  A motivation for many women, she praised her results, saying “I have felt more happy with myself than I ever have.” Like Ariel, many women can relate to the perils of being large breasted and, like her, love the freedom that their new, smaller breasts allow.

Breast Reconstruction

Having fought and beat breast cancer, survivors are ready to take control of their lives. Breast reconstruction is just as much about emotional healing as it is physical healing. Dr. Khattab is honored to be a part of your healing journey. More and more, women are embracing breast reconstruction and the number of options available to them. This past year has seen an increase in the number of women choosing to reconstruct their breasts using their own tissue. Autologous (FLAP) reconstruction offers a softer breast that often feels more ‘natural’ to the patient.
